The Mexican Wolf is one of the most important and representative species of Mexico, since it is the largest canid that has lived in our country but also the most endangered. .
Unfortunately, the Mexican Wolf disappeared from the wild in the 1970s due to the extensive poaching that ranchers in northern Mexico and the southern United States orchestrated against it, due to some livestock losses caused by the Mexican Wolf and other predators. like pumas or coyotes..
However, the hatred of the ranchers towards the Mexican Wolf was increase to such a degree of seeking the total extinction of the species, I hate that to date and despite the fact that the ranchers achieved their goal of eradicating the Wolf, they still persists, especially in the northern states of Mexico
Currently we can only find the Wolf Mexican in Captivity in Mexico, the attempts to free the species have failed, mainly due to the lack of environmental education and awareness among the population and vulnerable groups and basically hatred without foundation on the part of the ranchers continues to this date .
In the year 2000, UNAM scientists considered as an extinct species, since it was doubted that genetically could have sufficient variability to avoid diseases consanguineous and congenital that will cause diseases and eventually their disappearance.
Fortunately and against all the forecasts the Mexican Wolf has managed to survive and has recovered, now The problem is finding a way to return it to its natural habitat.
Fundacion Lince has carried out the largest environmental education program in Mexico of the Mexican Wolf, reaching more than one million students of all educational levels in person since we started this project in 2007 and virtually hundreds of thousands more. Likewise, our organization works in direct collaboration with the Mexican Wolf Sanctuary "Extincion Cero", supporting conservation work. You can contribute to the Mexican Wolf Conservation Project, telling your friends and family about this wonderful species and supporting with donations in cash or kind so that we can continue with the environmental education and conservation projects, likewise, if you want us to visit your school or educational institution, contact us and we will gladly visit them.
